Kentucky Fund Sunset Extended

Certainly welcome news to tank owners, operators, and environmental cleanup consultants was the recent enactment of Kentucky House Bill 187 which provides for extension of several key sunset dates for the Petroleum Storage Tank Environmental Assurance Fund (PSTEAF) program.  Extension of the PSTEAF program will allow responsible parties to continue to receive funding for current remediation efforts for eligible releases.  It will also allow for new releases from registered USTs to be covered, further delaying a decision by current owner and operators to look for what might be more costly alternative methods to meet federal and state financial responsibility requirements.

The UST registration deadline for participation in the Fund is now 7/15/2021.

The deadline for reimbursements of corrective action projects from the petroleum storage tank account is now 7/15/2024.

The small operator assistance account will continue until 7/15/2021.

Tank registration is required prior to participation in the Fund, so contact Pinnacle for assistance with submitting appropriate affidavits and applications.
